Core Duties:

Nursing Process:

Develops and contributes to individualized care plans that encompass assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes.

Ensures care plans reflect multidisciplinary collaboration, consultation, and education.

Care plans should consider admission data, ongoing assessments, age-appropriate care, cultural needs, and acuity levels.

Engages patients and families in discussions about care plans, ensuring timely completion. Monitors patient progress according to the care plan and revises it based on ongoing evaluations. Ensures that care meets established standards and effectively develops discharge plans, addressing barriers and providing patient/family education. Ensures patients comprehend discharge instructions and identifies educational needs to support outpatient management.

Prioritizes patient safety concerning medications and procedures, utilizing best practices to prevent falls, pressure ulcers, and hospital-acquired infections.

Focuses on optimal pain management and patient comfort, addressing anxieties and concerns regarding treatment and discharge.

Ensures patients understand the purpose, side effects, and administration of medications during their hospital stay and upon discharge.


Documentation:
Ensures accurate, legible, and timely charting that reflects the nursing process, interventions, and evaluations. Utilizes computer systems effectively to enhance patient care.

Clinical Outcomes:
Engages in discussions regarding patient findings and progress with physicians and other healthcare team members. Demonstrates competencies throughout the probationary period and maintains ongoing validation of departmental competencies. Makes informed nursing decisions based on data interpretation, assessments, and evaluations of patient outcomes. Participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives, including planning, measuring, monitoring, assessing, and enhancing care delivery.

Workplace Safety:
Complies with workplace safety protocols and practices. Applies standard precautions to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.

Patient Care Experience:
Upholds customer service standards as defined by the organization. Responds promptly to patient requests and needs. Facilitates patient access to resources and maintains confidentiality. Ensures a clean and functional work environment while treating all patients and families with respect and compassion.

Strives to provide an exceptional patient care experience by actively listening to and addressing the needs of patients and their families.

Communicates information clearly and ensures patient understanding. Aims to exceed patient expectations in care delivery.

Organizes work to minimize overtime usage. Identifies and assists in improving systems that require simplification or correction. Maximizes the use of payroll and non-payroll resources.

Minimum Qualifications:
REQUIREMENTS FOR NURSING IN & OUTPATIENT SETTINGS


1 year of recent full-time equivalent experience in PACU, ED, or Critical Care within the last 3 years.

Current ACLS certification is required.


Experience in procedural sedation is necessary, including knowledge of medications for managing adult patients requiring sedation, analgesia, and reversal agents. If performing pediatric procedural sedation, current PALS certification is required. Proficiency in IV therapy is essential. May rotate through various diagnostic areas.

Ability to respond to calls within a 30-minute timeframe.

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT: Current CA RN license, ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.

One year of recent full-time equivalent experience in the ED or successful completion of a KP or equivalent ED training program.

INTENSIVE CARE UNIT: Current CA RN License, ACLS, and BLS certifications. Successful completion of a Basic Arrhythmia course. One year of recent full-time equivalent experience in an acute care ICU setting.

Preferred Qualifications:
PALS Certification.

NEONATOLOGY INTENSIVE CARE UNIT: Current CA RN License.

1 year of recent full-time equivalent experience in a Level II NICU or above, or successful completion of a KP NICU course or approved equivalent within the last 12 months.

NRP and BLS provider cards are required.

LABOR & DELIVERY: Current CA RN license, ACLS, and NRP certifications.

One year of recent full-time equivalent experience in an L&D unit, including basic fetal monitoring.

Successful completion of an advanced fetal monitoring course within the past two years is expected. May require cross-training in at least one other perinatal area. Ability to scrub and circulate as needed.

Operating Room: Current CA RN license, AHA BLS certification.

One year of recent full-time equivalent experience in an acute hospital OR, circulating on various surgical procedures across multiple specialties, or completion of a KP or approved equivalent OR course within the last 12 months.

Scrubbing ability is preferred. Must be able to respond to calls within a 30-minute timeframe.

POST ANESTHESIA CARE UNIT AND DAY SURGERY: Current CA RN license, ACLS, and PALS certifications. One year of recent full-time equivalent experience in PACU, ED, or Critical Care. Must be able to respond to calls within a 30-minute timeframe.

RECOMMENDED VERBIAGE FOR ALL POSITIONS:

Kaiser Permanente:
Employees acquired through the purchase of Moreno Valley Community Hospital will have up to 6 months from their original hire date to obtain the required certifications for their specific unit, including:

Successful completion of a Basic Arrhythmia course

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Current CA RN license.
  • ACLS and BLS certifications.
  • Successful completion of a Basic Arrhythmia course.
  • One year of recent full-time equivalent experience in an acute care ICU setting.
