Key Responsibilities:

Leadership:

The Senior RN exemplifies leadership by adhering to Kaiser Permanente's policies and legal regulations. This role involves guiding the healthcare team, appropriately delegating tasks, and maintaining accountability. The RN understands the scope of practice for both themselves and their team, escalating issues when necessary. They foster a supportive atmosphere, advocate for innovative ideas, and lead others through transitions effectively.

Additionally, the RN mentors and coaches team members in unit-specific operations and patient care, sharing responsibilities and holding others accountable for their performance. They collaborate with other departments to resolve patient-related issues and prioritize work assignments to ensure the completion of care activities.


Nursing Process:

The Senior RN is responsible for developing and contributing to individualized care plans that reflect thorough assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes. This includes ensuring multidisciplinary collaboration and timely communication with patients and their families regarding care plans.

They monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary, ensuring adherence to standards of practice and effective discharge planning, including patient education and addressing barriers to care.


Documentation:
Accurate and timely documentation is essential, reflecting the nursing process and interventions undertaken. The RN effectively utilizes electronic systems to enhance patient care.

Clinical Outcomes:
The Senior RN engages in discussions with physicians and healthcare team members regarding patient progress and outcomes. They demonstrate competencies through ongoing validation and participate in performance improvement initiatives within the department.
Workplace Safety:
The RN adheres to safety protocols and maintains a secure environment for themselves and others, applying standard precautions in all aspects of care.

Patient Care Experience:
Committed to exceptional customer service, the Senior RN promptly addresses patient needs and requests, ensuring confidentiality and a clean, functional work environment. They actively listen to patients and families, providing information in an understandable manner and striving to exceed expectations in patient care experiences.
Team Collaboration:
Recognized as an effective team player, the Senior RN is flexible and cooperative, addressing conflicts constructively and taking responsibility for their actions. They serve as a resource and mentor to new staff and actively participate in professional development opportunities.
Fiscal Responsibility:
The RN organizes their workload to minimize overtime and identifies opportunities for system improvements to enhance efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current RN license in California.
  • Relevant certifications (ACLS, BLS, etc.).
  • Recent experience in an acute care setting.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
