Position Summary

The Cybersecurity Assurance Specialist is responsible for executing a range of cybersecurity duties, including: System Administration, Enterprise Oversight, certification and accreditation, and assessment and authorization (A&A) for Special Access Programs (SAP) and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). This role ensures that the existing information assurance (IA) program adheres to national, Department of Defense (DoD), and organizational standards, safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, and non-repudiation of critical information systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in Defense Information System Agency (DISA) and National Security Agency assessments, ensuring compliance with Computer Network Defense Program (CNDSP) standards.
  • Utilize expertise in network security devices, classified networks, public key infrastructure (PKI), and endpoint security solutions.
  • Apply knowledge of the following standards and guidelines:
  1. DoD Instruction National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual
  2. Defense Security Service Manual for Certification and Accreditation
  3. DoD Directive on Insider Threat Programs
  4. NIST Security and Privacy Controls
  5. DoD Joint Special Access Program Implementation Guide
  6. Committee for National Security Systems Policies
  7. DoD Instructions on Cybersecurity and Risk Management Framework
  • Ensure security requirements are integrated throughout all phases of program life cycles.
  • Plan and execute inspections and A&A events in accordance with established policies.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of security controls to evaluate their effectiveness and compliance.
  • Provide recommendations for mitigating identified vulnerabilities and enhancing system security.
  • Collaborate with various teams to support the continuous monitoring of classified and unclassified networks.
  • Maintain a repository for all system certification and accreditation documentation.
  • Conduct training sessions for personnel on information security practices and protocols.

Qualifications

Essential Skills
  • Proven experience in a cybersecurity role, with knowledge aligned to Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level III or Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level II.
  • In-depth understanding of Risk Management Framework (RMF) principles.
  • Experience in assessing and authorizing various systems across multiple classifications.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.
  • A Master's degree may substitute for 4 years of experience.
Certifications
  • DoD Approved Baseline Certification such as CISSP.
Travel Requirements
  • Some travel may be necessary for this position.
