As a Clinical Pharmacist specializing in Medication Policy at Cedars-Sinai Medical Network Foundation, you will be the key professional in the Pharmacy Department, overseeing clinical and medication use policies within the organization. Your responsibilities will encompass all facets of medication use policy evaluation, from crafting new policies to managing medications within our Electronic Medical Record system.

The Clinical Pharmacist will identify, implement, and monitor evaluations of high-cost medication usage, providing recommendations for the patient population served by Cedars-Sinai Medical Network Foundation. This role aims to guide the organization in delivering timely, appropriate, and cost-effective drug therapies. You will analyze pharmaceutical usage and cost trends, collaborating with internal stakeholders to develop clinical initiatives aimed at reducing costs associated with targeted therapies.
This position necessitates a strong proficiency in data analysis, familiarity with high-cost drug categories, exceptional analytical capabilities, and the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives by advancing recommendations within various leadership forums.
Once targeted therapies are recognized, the Clinical Pharmacist will be responsible for establishing new policies and educating staff and physicians to ensure efficient execution of processes, programs, and services. Additionally, you will provide ongoing clinical support and oversight for utilization management activities, adhering to established policies and regulations, including compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Conduct analysis of pharmacy care costs and trends, coordinating the development of appropriate usage protocols and guidelines.
- Formulate drug product reviews and recommendations by evaluating drug use trends and new drug introductions.
- Critically assess and interpret data from diverse sources to ensure compliance with industry standards for drug information practice.
- Establish criteria for reviewing non-formulary or non-preferred medications and communicate findings.
- Research drug information to maintain current knowledge of medications and disease states.
- Support documentation and develop communication for the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee review process.
- Educate healthcare professionals regarding safe medication practices and changes in medication policy.
- Assist in training pharmacy residents and students, as well as in continuing education for pharmacy staff.
- Review drug usage data to make informed decisions based on member benefits and coverage criteria.
- Contribute to budget forecasting and management.
- Complete projects related to clinical pharmacy and medication use enhancement as necessary.
- Assist with the implementation and education of new order sets and best practice alerts.
- Lead initiatives related to new drug-related services and clinical pharmacy initiatives.
- Collaborate with the team to develop clinical criteria for reviewing non-formulary medications.
- Review and revise communication materials related to drug coverage and utilization programs.
