Position Summary

The Inpatient Pharmacy IV Specialist will operate under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, showcasing advanced technical skills in unit dose drug distribution, sterile and non-sterile compounding, and inventory management. The individual will adhere to hospital policies and relevant state and federal regulations, demonstrating integrity and reliability while contributing to the overall culture of V R Della Infotech Inc.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Execute essential technician duties independently within the pharmacy department.
  2. Maintain professional and effective communication with colleagues and patients.
  3. Utilize personal protective equipment appropriately.
  4. Employ aseptic techniques throughout the compounding process efficiently.
  5. Ensure compliance with USP 797 and 800 standards.
  6. Conduct necessary calculations for drug dilutions and reconstitution.
  7. Utilize closed system transfer devices during hazardous medication preparation.
  8. Dispose of hazardous waste generated during compounding correctly.
  9. Assist in maintaining cleanliness in controlled environments as per established schedules.
  10. Prioritize and manage daily compounding tasks effectively.
  11. Document medication control records, including lot numbers and inventories.
  12. Perform basic data entry for pharmacist verification of compounded products.
  13. Coordinate daily work functions to optimize efficiency.
  14. Resolve workplace conflicts in a calm and professional manner.
  15. Assist in ordering medications and supplies as needed.
  16. Support the restocking of pharmaceutical products throughout the facility.
  17. Conduct quality assurance inspections to ensure compliance.
  18. Maintain quality control standards in clean room activities.
  19. Document quality control records, including temperature and pressure logs.
  20. Demonstrate commitment to meeting the needs of nursing and medical staff.
  21. Maintain readiness for inspections by regulatory bodies.
  22. Keep a clean and professional workspace at all times.
  23. Focus on medication safety and document any errors.
  24. Participate in mandatory education and competency assessments.
  25. Perform additional duties as required to support the department.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED
Licensure: State of Maine Registered Pharmacy Technician License
Experience: PTCB National Certification with a minimum of two years in a hospital environment.
