Position Overview:
The Aerial Emergency Medical Technician plays a crucial role in the mission of CHRISTUS Health by providing care for critically ill and injured patients in an airborne medical setting. This role demands a high level of autonomy while operating in complex out-of-hospital environments and at various healthcare facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver advanced life support and critical care during air transport, collaborating closely with the Flight Nurse and Pilot.
- Engage in public relations efforts, interacting with diverse healthcare and public safety professionals in high-pressure situations.
- Manage transport operations and clinical care in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training and orientation to ensure compliance with rigorous credentialing standards.
- Support program clinical operations through additional assigned duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of experience in a high-volume advanced life support environment; over five years is preferred.
- Current paramedic certification in Texas is required.
- National Registry Paramedic certification is preferred upon hire, mandatory within one year.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required at the time of hire.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification is also required upon hire.
- Transport-specific critical care board certification (C-NPT, FP-C, or CCP-C) is strongly preferred at hire or required within 24 months.
- Previous experience in flight or critical care transport is highly desirable.
- Ability to maintain emotional stability in unpredictable situations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to exercise independent judgment.
- Excellent public relations and diplomacy skills.
- Proficient keyboarding/documentation skills and general computer literacy.
