Overview of the Job

The Licensed Practical Nurse position is available at the Conway Human Development Center in Arkansas. This role involves providing direct nursing care to patients in various settings, including private homes, hospitals, clinics, and residential institutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor patients' conditions by checking vital signs and observing their responses to care.
  • Provide direct care to patients, including catheter and colostomy care, bowel program techniques, and insulin injection.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by physicians.
  • Instruct patients and their families on routine medical care and personal hygiene.
  • Assist doctors in clinics by gathering patient information and transcribing orders.
Requirements

To be eligible for this position, applicants must have a diploma or certificate with the prescribed curriculum in a state-approved program for the preparation of practical nurses. They must also be licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Arkansas State Nursing Board.

Working Conditions

This role may require working rotating shifts or hours other than normal working hours or being on call. Employees may need to lift and position patients, walk, use restraints, and manage aggressive behavior.

Benefits

The Department of Human Services offers a competitive salary range of $36,155.00 - $57,668.00 per year, depending on experience. Additional benefits include a pension, maternity leave, paid state holidays, and more.
