About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Penn National Gaming. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and presentation of our menu items.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and Manage Kitchen Staff: Directly supervise and manage a team of cooks and kitchen employees to ensure efficient and effective food preparation and presentation.
  • Menu Planning and Coordination: Collaborate with the Sous Chef and Executive Chef to plan and coordinate menus, ensuring that they meet the high standards of our culinary team.
  • Cooking Operations: Determine the time and sequence of cooking operations to meet meal serving hours, ensuring that all dishes are prepared to perfection.
  • Delegation and Training: Delegate responsibilities to cooks for the preparation of foods via production sheets, and provide training and guidance as needed.
  • Quality Control: Review menus and analyze recipes to ensure that they meet our high standards of quality and presentation.
Requirements
  • Culinary Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Culinary Education: A degree in culinary arts or a related field is preferred.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team of kitchen staff.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with kitchen staff, management, and other stakeholders.
