About the Job
The following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role.
This engineering leadership position manages engineering staff and activities. The manager oversees eight landfill sites located in VA, PA, and WV, requiring travel to these facilities. Employees should be based within the MD/VA/PA/WV area.Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and schedule all necessary engineering resources required to accomplish activities.
  • Monitor department work processes, procedures, and expenses, establishing programs that drive team performance toward departmental and organizational goals.
  • Review and evaluate work to ensure quality, timeliness, and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Oversee personnel needs, including selecting, coaching, training employees, and evaluating employee performance.
  • Provide input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
  • Submit budget information and analyze data against year-to-date and prior-year budgets.
  • Manage departmental projects as needed.
  • Coordinate technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Develop and test components, equipment, and systems applying principles and techniques of electrical, mechanical, chemical, and/or industrial engineering.
  • Function as a working team member and provide technical and administrative direction to other engineering staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities
The highest level of supervisory skills required in this job is managing supervisory employees, which includes direct supervision of six full-time employees and management of cross-functional teams of Engineers, Process Managers, and Construction Managers.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree (accredited) or equivalent experience in Engineering or a similar field; or High School Diploma or GED (accredited) with four years of relevant work experience.
  • Seven years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirements).

Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience as a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is preferred.

Additional Requirements
You should have solid waste and wastewater experience.

The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S. is $122,825 - $167,310. This estimate represents a good faith approximation for this role, considering factors like relevant experience, education, certifications, qualifications, and work location. Each eligible employee receives a competitive total compensation package, including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Short-Term Disability. As well as a Stock Purchase Plan, Company match on 401K, and more. Our employees also receive Paid Vacation, Holidays, and Personal Days. Please note that benefits may vary by site.
