Job Summary:

The Assistant Bakery Manager is a key member of the Bakery Department team at Sprouts Farmers Market. This role is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing and leading Bakery Clerks, and ensuring high standards in quality, variety, selection, food safety, and sanitation for all products produced and sold in the Bakery Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead Bakery Clerks to deliver excellent customer service and maintain high standards in quality, variety, selection, food safety, and sanitation.
  • Assist the Bakery Manager in the daily supervision of Bakery Department operations, including production, merchandising, and sales.
  • Coordinate production, merchandising, and sales through ongoing planning, direction, communication, goal setting, brainstorming, and teamwork.
  • Ensure quality bakery products through proper rotation procedures, monitoring cases for damaged items, and following all health and sanitation guidelines.
  • Act as manager in the absence of the Bakery Manager as needed to address employee relations, coaching, and general department supervision needs.
  • Perform general housekeeping in the department, including cleaning and sanitizing work areas, and operating equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
  • Adhere to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations, and achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit.

Requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age with a minimum of two years' retail grocery experience and two years supervisory experience.
  • Dependable and reliable, with the ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Outgoing and friendly behavior, with a positive attitude and the ability to interact with customers.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to give and take direction, and participate in a team environment.
  • Ability to stand for up to 3 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift, and perform physically demanding tasks such as vertically transferring trays and items.
