Position Overview:
As a Senior Logistics Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing the seamless transportation of fresh produce from suppliers to distribution centers. Your expertise will ensure that our supply chain processes are optimized for efficiency and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the coordination with carriers, buyers, shippers, and quality control inspectors to facilitate the movement of produce.
  • Act as a liaison between third-party carriers and stakeholders to enhance vendor relations.
  • Review priority lists from distribution centers, addressing and clarifying any delivery issues.
  • Provide timely updates on traffic and notify relevant parties of any delivery complications.
  • Dispatch logistics information to third-party carriers to expedite produce movement.
  • Formulate truck loads considering various constraints such as loading regions, temperature compatibility, and delivery deadlines.
  • Ensure accuracy in purchase orders and determine suitable delivery dates.
  • Manage produce rejections and settle assessorial charges, including layover and redelivery fees.
  • Resolve issues related to overages, shortages, and damages, assisting in claims settlement.
  • Survey truck loads post-delivery to verify compliance with carrier obligations.
  • Fulfill and ensure compliance with transportation contracts, incorporating all relevant fees into rates.
  • Negotiate with third-party carriers for competitive rates.
  • Interpret guidelines and regulations for transporting perishable goods.

Work Environment:
Office setting with a comfortable temperature range of 65F to 75F.

Required Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of the produce transportation sector.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to navigate and understand the dynamics of various transportation regions, including local deliveries.
  • Understanding of supply and demand, seasonality, and vendor-specific challenges impacting truck availability.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years in transportation or logistics-related fields is required.
