About the Role

MU Health Care is seeking a skilled and compassionate Surgical Technologist to join our team in the Operating Room at University Hospital. As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare system.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the preparation and maintenance of sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment in the operating rooms to provide a safe and effective environment. Collaborate with the surgical team to anticipate and meet the needs of patients, staff, and physicians. Communicate effectively with patients, staff members, and physicians to ensure seamless care delivery. Demonstrate a commitment to patient safety and adhere to standards, including unit and hospital policies, regulatory standards, and patient safety goals. Perform technical duties involving care, preparation, and maintenance of sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment in the operating rooms to provide a safe and effective environment. Establish and maintain a sterile field and ensure the team maintains a sterile environment independently. Apply basic knowledge of instrumentations to several cases and correct deficiencies at the case level. Complete unit/department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

Requirements

One (1) year of experience as a surgical technologist. Completion of an accredited surgical tech program, the MU Health Care Surgical Tech program, or military training may be substituted. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), (OR) Certified Operating Room Surgical Technician (CORST) certification by the National Health Career Association (NHA), or Technician in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) certification by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
