Job Summary

South Shore Health is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing individualized, outcome-oriented nursing care to patients. This role requires a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and a passion for staying up-to-date with the latest nursing practices and technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medication Administration
    • Ensure accurate and timely administration of medications, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
    • Complete medication reconciliation process, following hospital protocols.
    • Verify and document narcotic counts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with hospital policies.
  • Plan of Care/Documentation/Patient Family Centered Care/Patient Experience
    • Develop, discuss, and communicate a prioritized problem list/plan of care for each patient.
    • Assess and document patient/family/significant other teaching needs upon admission and throughout hospitalization.
    • Continuously assess and reassess patient care needs, updating the plan of care as necessary.
    • Document all patient care, adhering to hospital policies, unit-based standards, and disease processes.
  • Safety/Quality
    • Foster a culture of safety through personal ownership and commitment to a safe environment.
    • Verify patient identification with two identifiers prior to invasive procedures, ensuring accuracy and safety.
    • Comply with current CDC hand hygiene guidelines, adhering to universal precautions and proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Professional Development
    • Assume overall responsibility for own professional development, incorporating evidenced-based practice, research, and performance improvement initiatives.
    • Obtain at least 5 contact hours per year in area of practice, staying current with the latest nursing practices and technologies.
  • Technology
    • Utilize technological solutions to work processes and practices, staying up-to-date with the latest hospital systems and software applications.
  • Compliance
    • Work within legal, regulatory, and ethical standards relevant to the position, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
    • Safeguard patient information, adhering to hospital privacy and security programs.
  • Patient and Family Centered Care
    • Convey respect for patient values, preferences, and expressed needs, recognizing the patient and family as important members of the healthcare team.
    • Collaborate with patients and families in planning, implementing, and evaluating care, ensuring patient-centered care.
  • Age & Culture
    • Possess age and cultural knowledge and awareness, considering individual needs of each person with whom you interact.
    • Interact with sensitivity in delivering care/services to diverse populations, utilizing resources such as interpreter services and online sources as needed.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Previous Acute Care RN experience preferred
  • RN - Registered Nurse licensure
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification, Emergency Response Training Certification, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) Certification may be required
