POSITION SUMMARY
The Class A Heavy Haul Truck Operator is tasked with the responsibility of transporting oversized and overweight machinery to various job sites. The operator will encounter diverse situations and equipment while executing their duties and is accountable for the upkeep of their assigned vehicle.
COMPENSATION
A $1000 sign-on bonus is available, payable after 90 days of employment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate, load, and unload oversized and/or overweight components and machinery.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of oversized/overweight equipment, ensuring all loads are adequately prepared, loaded, and secured to prevent any shifting or falling during transit; conduct thorough pre- and post-trip inspections of the load and vehicle.
- Read and comprehend permits for routes, special considerations, and safety requirements.
- Prepare and stow all equipment, including the vehicle and trailer, along with auxiliary tools such as chains, straps, blocks, and gears after each trip.
- Adhere to all DOT, state, and local traffic laws and regulations, operating all equipment within legal weight and load size limits.
- Document any questionable machine damage with photographs and report immediately.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all items listed on the manifest.
- Perform routine maintenance, minor repairs, and regular servicing on mobile and crushing/screening equipment as directed by the supervisor.
- Possess mechanical and hydraulic trailer expertise, along with the ability to conduct minor maintenance on equipment as necessary.
- Prioritize safety by complying with all DOT and company safety policies and procedures.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- 3-5 years of experience in heavy haul operations.
- Valid Class A CDL with Doubles/Triples, Hazmat, and Tanker endorsements, or the ability to obtain these endorsements.
- Valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
- Basic understanding of oversized/overweight hauling regulations at federal, state, county, and city levels.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Capacity to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with company policy.
- Experience with 9 axle trailers or larger.
- Experience with Jeep Dolly operations.
- Willingness to travel overnight as required.
- Ability to perform tasks under various adverse weather conditions.
- Basic computer skills required (Email, Smart Phone, Excel).
