Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Shipboard Electrical Specialist to join our team at General Dynamics Information Technology. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems on board ships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances.
  • Operate, repair, and maintain naval or marine hull, mechanical, or electrical systems.
  • Inspect and test electrical equipment, lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits.
  • Isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment using general and specialized testing equipment.
  • Replace faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical systems.
  • Dismantle electrical machinery and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts.
  • Mount motors, transformers, and lighting fixtures into position and complete circuits according to diagram specifications.
  • Work from drawings, blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Participate in special projects as required.
  • Obtain all necessary badges and work in a variety of environments, including ships, shipyards, and industrial settings.
  • Lift, carry, and transport heavy equipment and boxes up to 75 lbs.
  • Travel may be required for up to 20% of the time.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma and/or a technical vocational high school diploma.
  • 3+ years of experience, including 1+ years of shipboard experience.
  • Experience in the operation, repair, and maintenance of naval or marine hull, mechanical, or electrical systems.
  • Ability to obtain all necessary badges.
  • US Citizenship.
