Summary
Under general supervision, you will perform general maintenance tasks with a moderate degree of autonomy in applying your knowledge and technical skills.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assess assigned tasks and ensure that adequate and appropriate materials and tools are available to complete the work.
- Oversee work, provide technical guidance, and conduct inspections of tasks performed by maintenance staff.
- Carry out preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance.
- Operate equipment and machinery relevant to the assigned area.
- May engage in carpentry tasks, including repairing or replacing doors, windows, walls, flooring, roofing, and other wood structures.
- May undertake plumbing, heating, and air conditioning tasks, including repairing furnaces, ductwork, air conditioners, piping, and related components.
- May perform electrical work, including repairing and replacing fixtures, control switches, and wiring.
- May execute minor construction tasks such as building storage units, shelving, counters, and workbenches using precision hand tools and power tools.
- May conduct mechanical work involving the repair and maintenance of facility machinery, motors, and vehicles.
- Maintain records of repairs and maintenance activities.
- Assist in ensuring the security of assigned personnel.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent certification is required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of full-time, wage-earning experience in general maintenance, construction, or a related field. Completion of an equivalent technical or trade school course may substitute for two (2) years of the required vocational experience.
- Knowledge of maintenance techniques and procedures, including the ability to interpret electrical prints, diagrams, and schematics, as well as perform necessary arithmetic calculations.
- Ability to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely is essential.
