Role ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibility of the Speech Language Pathologist is to deliver and oversee speech therapy services for patients across various age groups, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations. The objective is to assist patients in achieving their highest potential within a clinical framework.
- Evaluate resident information to inform assessment and treatment processes.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify communicative deficits and necessary equipment.
- Design and implement personalized treatment plans with realistic functional goals.
- Adhere to evaluation, treatment, and documentation standards while maintaining accurate records.
- Supervise aides in accordance with relevant state regulations.
- Document progress notes after each therapy session.
- Adjust treatment plans based on resident performance as needed.
- Provide clear discharge summaries following established formats.
- Educate residents about program services and treatment procedures.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, residents, and families to enhance functional abilities.
- Instruct residents and caregivers on therapeutic procedures for home continuation post-discharge.
- Assist in referrals for additional services as required.
- Stay informed about community resources relevant to patient needs.
- Participate in rehabilitation team meetings to discuss resident progress and challenges.
- Engage in departmental meetings as necessary.
- Pursue continuing education opportunities to maintain professional expertise.
The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Therapy and hold a current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Ongoing professional development and valid state licensure in Speech Language Pathology are essential.
