Custodial Technician

External Description

This is a UNION Position.

Overview: Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of public transit facilities by executing various cleaning tasks.

Key Responsibilities include the following:

• Conducts routine cleaning and sanitizing activities across designated areas.
• Dusts and wipes down surfaces to ensure a tidy environment.
• Utilizes equipment to sweep, mop, and vacuum floors; shampoos carpets as needed.
• Employs power washing techniques on station floors and walls.
• Restocks supplies such as towels and washcloths in restrooms.
• Collects and disposes of waste from trash receptacles.
• Reports maintenance issues or malfunctions promptly.
• Disinfects and cleans restroom facilities thoroughly.
• Performs additional tasks as required.

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or Equivalent is preferred.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and understand basic instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Capable of writing simple correspondence. Proficient in presenting information clearly in one-on-one and small group settings to customers, clients, and colleagues in English.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with two-digit numbers, as well as handling American currency and measurements.

Reasoning Skills:

Ability to apply common sense to follow simple instructions and manage standardized situations with minimal variability.

Technical Skills:

Competence in using a tablet or smartphone for job-related tasks.

Certificates and Licenses:

No specific certifications required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not involve supervisory duties.

Physical Requirements:
