About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Equity Analyst to join our team at Selby Jennings. As a key member of our investment research team, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth fundamental research and analysis on potential investment opportunities within the equity markets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Thorough Research: Develop and maintain detailed financial models to support investment theses, monitor and analyze industry trends, market conditions, and company-specific developments.
  • Generate Investment Ideas: Create and present investment ideas to the portfolio management team, execute trades and manage positions in accordance with the fund's investment strategy.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Work closely with other analysts and portfolio managers to refine investment strategies and optimize portfolio performance.
  • Present Investment Reports: Prepare and present detailed investment reports and recommendations to senior management.
  • Stay Current with Market News: Stay up-to-date with market news, earnings reports, and other relevant information to inform investment decisions.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or CFA designation preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of buyside experience in equity research or a related role.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a deep understanding of financial statements and valuation techniques, proven track record of generating profitable investment ideas.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis software (e.g., Excel, Bloomberg, FactSet).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Long/Short Equity Experience: Experience with long/short equity strategies.
  • Investment Community Network: Strong network within the investment community.
  • Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to think critically and make sound investment decisions under pressure.
