Job Summary

The Surgical Services Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the surgical team in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can multitask, prioritize, and maintain confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain assigned spaces, including setup and cleanup, to ensure a smooth surgical process.
  • Properly identify, handle, and dispose of biohazardous, hazardous, and pharmaceutical waste according to established policies and procedures.
  • Transport supplies, instrumentation, and equipment safely and efficiently to support surgical procedures.
  • Provide patient transport within the facility using stretchers, wheelchairs, and ambulatory assistance.
  • Maintain accurate records of assigned checklists and perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification by date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in using a computer.
  • Knowledge of applicable specialties.
  • Outpatient clinical organizational ability.
  • Ability to remain objective and composed in stressful situations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients, and physicians.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and prepare accurate records.
Work Environment

The Surgical Services Assistant will work in a clinical environment, requiring corrected vision and hearing to normal range. The position involves sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stretching for extended periods. Manual dexterity is required for computer use, and occasional lifting of items weighing up to 40 pounds may be necessary.
