Position SummaryThe Seasonal Grounds and Facility Maintenance role involves working under the guidance of the Parks Services Department Supervisor and other specialists. The primary focus is on maintaining the aesthetics and functionality of park grounds and facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare for daily tasks by gathering necessary equipment, including:
- Gas cans
- Mowers
- Clippers and cutters
- Chainsaws
- Other tools and vehicles as required
- Conduct park upkeep activities such as mulching, aerating, weeding, and trimming. This includes:
- Removing litter and trash
- Mowing grass
- Line trimming and edging
- Leaf and clippings cleanup
- Pruning and debris removal
- Weed pulling
- Operate various hand and power equipment, including mowers, tractors, and snow blowers.
- Perform tree and shrub pruning using hand tools.
- Maintain sidewalks, driveways, and other ground features.
- Plant flowers and manage plant care.
- Apply mulch appropriately based on material type.
- Conduct daily inspections and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
- Assist with repairs and routine maintenance of facilities.
- Install and repair recreational equipment, fences, and signage.
- Paint park property and apply sealers as necessary.
- Perform maintenance on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and building components.
- Address vandalism and ensure safety compliance.
- Foster positive relationships with coworkers.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to all stakeholders.
- Communicate important matters to supervisors promptly.
- Encourage feedback and listen actively to team members and patrons.
- Participate in meetings and represent the organization professionally.
- Maintain knowledge of safety protocols.
- Report accidents and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Participate in safety training and meetings.
- Handle public complaints with professionalism.
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- At least one year of experience in grounds maintenance preferred.
- Familiarity with commercial mowers and landscaping equipment.
- Ability to understand operational manuals.
- Knowledge of park maintenance and turf management principles.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
- Good physical condition and mobility.
- Mechanical aptitude and tool usage skills.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
This is a seasonal position with varying hours. Flexibility in scheduling may be available based on the candidate's availability.
