Careers with the Cerebral Palsy Association of the North Country offer a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. We are seeking dedicated professionals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in our Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRAs). Our IRAs provide a supportive environment for 3 – 6 residents, empowering them to live independently while receiving the care and support they need.
As a DSP, you will play a vital role in providing individualized personal care, mentorship, support, and a sense of stability and security to our residents. Your responsibilities will include assisting with personal care, daily living skills, transportation, medication administration (following additional training and certification), ensuring safety, and providing emotional support. You will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe residence, including performing housekeeping duties and shoveling snow.
We have multiple locations throughout the region, offering flexible scheduling options to accommodate your needs. This includes full-time, part-time, and per diem positions, as well as evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday coverage opportunities.
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of our Agency orientation and training program, and successful completion of Medication Certification training. A valid New York State driver's license with two years of driving experience is also required, along with an acceptable motor vehicle abstract to meet our insurance standards. Reliable transportation is essential, as you will need to transport residents to appointments and activities.
In exchange for your dedication and hard work, we offer competitive compensation at $18.90 per hour, paid biweekly. Additionally, eligible employees receive excellent benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Term Life/AD&D insurance, long-term and short-term disability, 401(k), and other elective programs. We also offer generous time off, including vacation, personal, and sick time, as well as paid holidays.
This position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, support residents with physical assistance, and respond safely in case of a behavior crisis. You must also be able to operate personal and agency vehicles, walk and stand for extended periods, and tolerate various atmospheric conditions. If you are passionate about providing exceptional care and support, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
