Make a Difference in Your Role
Position: Packaging HMO 3rd Shift
The employee will be tasked with managing materials, including confectionery items, and facilitating production processes. Responsibilities include setting up, transitioning, and operating production lines, as well as supporting packaging staff. The role encompasses ensuring cleanliness, maintaining quality standards, optimizing productivity, and adhering to safety protocols within the designated area.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Duties:
- Supply the packaging area with necessary materials such as film, cardboard, and adhesive.
- Change film on production equipment as required and assist with operations on both sides of the production line.
- Maintain adequate adhesive levels in glue pots and support operations as needed.
- Execute material usage tracking and corrections using GLOBE/SAP systems.
- Operate case erectors and seal finished goods using case tapers, ensuring proper tape changes.
- Manage shrink-wrap machinery, including film adjustments and clearing jams.
- Repack products flagged for quality issues.
- Ensure all materials are available for production and coordinate with drivers for additional supplies.
- Prepare machines for subsequent shifts and complete necessary changeovers.
- Remove unnecessary items from the work area and ensure proper disposal.
- Document downtime and other relevant metrics.
- Dispose of waste materials in accordance with established protocols.
- Communicate effectively with other shifts to address ongoing issues.
- Utilize scales for Work in Progress (WIP) monitoring.
- Inspect quality of finished products for compliance with standards.
- Properly orient and palletize displays and shippers.
- Maintain a clean workspace by following daily GMP checklists.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Quality Assurance:
Employees are expected to adhere to all GMP, quality, and food safety regulations.
Any quality or safety concerns must be reported to supervisors or designated personnel.
Safety & Environmental Compliance:
Employees must follow Ferrara - Itasca's safety and environmental guidelines, report incidents promptly, and comply with all relevant regulations.
Essential Skills for Success

- Proficiency in basic mathematics: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions.
- Strong reading and writing capabilities for technical documentation.
- Basic computer skills for navigation and data entry.

Experience:
Previous experience in food manufacturing is preferred.
