Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Automation Controls Technician to join our team at Amcor Rigid Packaging. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for conducting, maintaining, testing, and repairing electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Abide by all Amcor's Safety and Quality policies and procedures.
  • Perform detailed diagnostic analysis of plant operations equipment.
  • Develop preventative and predictive maintenance systems for plant operations.
  • Manage parts list, cost, and timeline to complete repair/overhaul of detailed diagnostic analysis.
  • Design and integrate improvements to automated quality inspection systems.
  • Provide hands-on assistance in the completion of events surrounding the diagnostic analysis.
  • Troubleshoot pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and programming issues related to plant controls.
  • Identify and interact with vendors to replace or improve the reliability of OEM equipment used by the operations and maintenance team.
  • Provide direction on Preventive/Predictive maintenance plan to achieve optimal operational reliability, including scheduling.
  • Provide onsite, scheduled training on controls systems, preventive, and predictive maintenance.
  • Provide phone support for the plant operations team to assist in troubleshooting/repair of controls and automation.
  • Provide on-site after-hours support for the plant operations team to assist in troubleshooting/repair of equipment.
  • Work with the site's operations leadership on new product/equipment installation, startup, and commissioning.
  • Develop training materials and work instructions to facilitate consistent application of Best Practices.

Requirements:

  • AAS in Electrical Technology or Computer Technology or five years of manufacturing experience in controls/automation technology.
  • Ability to review, correctly interpret, and modify PLCs.
  • Ability to use Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Wonderware software.
  • Familiar with Beckhoff DATA Acquisition system and networking between systems.
  • Experience with multiple brands of (HMI) touch screen applications and programming.
  • Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values related to job functions.
  • Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions/judgement calls based on the situation at hand.
  • Proficient hand/eye coordination to operate equipment and assemble packaging for shipment.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English to communicate with co-workers and vendors, read work instructions, job procedures, and manuals, and document information.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively use a computer and related software related to record keeping and machine troubleshooting/maintenance.
