Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Recreation Aide to join our team in the Culture, Parks & Recreation Department. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with people, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to building positive relationships between the town and its residents.

The Recreation Aide will support the Parks & Recreation Department in the planning, implementation, participation, and facilitation of a wide range of recreational programs, community events, and activities for individuals of all ages. This is a part-time position that requires a varying schedule with weekend and holiday work as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning, development, and execution of recreational programs, events, and activities.
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries, providing information, and assisting with program registrations.
  • Set up and maintain recreational facilities, equipment, and supplies to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for participants.
  • Supervise and monitor program participants to ensure their safety and compliance with department policies and guidelines.
  • Assist in organizing and promoting recreational events through marketing materials, social media, and community outreach.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist with administrative tasks, such as attendance tracking and program evaluations.
  • Collaborate with other department staff and volunteers to coordinate and support various activities.
  • Handle emergency situations and administer basic first aid as needed, following department protocols.
Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Previous experience in recreational activities, customer service, or a related field preferred.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment).
  • Lifeguard certification preferred.
