Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Recreation Leader to join our team at the City of North Miami Beach, FL. As a Recreation Leader, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading recreational activities and events for all age groups. This is a part-time position, up to 25 hours a week, and requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid Florida driver's license.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning, organizing, promoting, and leading diversified recreational and social activities for all age groups.
  • Conduct recreational activities, including music, dance, arts and crafts, cultural events, swimming, athletics, games, fitness, and programs for all ages and abilities.
  • Resolve complaints and inquiries from the public.
  • Maintain inventories of supplies and recommend purchasing equipment and supplies.
  • Inspect facilities, grounds, equipment, and supplies to recommend necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Perform facility maintenance and janitorial work as needed.
  • Set up rooms for recreational activities and check equipment for safety.
  • Utilize computer and software for data entry, enrollment, and statistical reports.
  • Assist in creating displays and advertisements for events.
  • Provide excellent customer service and execute the City and Departmental Mission Statements.
  • Enforce safety and program/facility rules and regulations.
  • Administer basic first aid and register, schedule, and accept money from activity participants.
  • Compile and maintain necessary records and receipts.
  • Advise the public regarding available activities and issue supplies and equipment to program participants.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Florida driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Working Conditions

This position requires standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, some crawling, reaching, handling, sitting, standing, pushing, and pulling. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, coworkers, the press, the general public, and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds is essential.
