Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled LPN Outpatient Nurse to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a key member of our Women's Care department, you will provide high-quality nursing care and patient education to designated patients in an ambulatory setting.

Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care and patient education to designated patients in an ambulatory setting.
  • Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist in patient needs assessment, take vital signs and medical history, and assist in triage, admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
  • Develop patient care goals and administer medication and monitor results, including approved IV medications according to policy.
  • Perform treatments at the nursing level, assist medical staff with complicated procedures, and follow up on diagnostic results.
  • Orient new staff, participate in patient care conferences, and participate in quality assurance activities.
  • Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer within 30 days.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse in NM or reciprocal agreement.
  • 2 years of directly related experience, with bilingual English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo preferred.
Working Conditions

This position requires heavy work, exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

This position also requires working in a healthcare environment with potential exposure to chemicals, biohazardous materials, and limited access to a medication room.
