PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Instructional Support Specialist will report directly to the principal, yet will be under the daily oversight of the assigned educator. This role requires the ability to perform tasks that may involve light to moderate lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling, and the capability to walk and/or stand for extended durations. Essential functions include vision, hearing, and verbal communication to fulfill required tasks, duties, and responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates Degree or two years (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours) of college education OR a high school diploma/GED with successful completion of the Georgia Paraprofessional Assessment Certification Test.

Valid Paraprofessional Certificate.

Ability to collaborate effectively with both adults and students, along with strong communication skills.

Well-organized with proficient time management abilities.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

1. Collaborate with individual and/or small groups of students to provide targeted intervention or enrichment activities as assigned by the educator.

2. Support the educator in implementing specialized strategies for reinforcing concepts or skills tailored to the needs of individual students.

3. Assist the educator in documenting and executing special strategies to address the behavioral needs of individual students.

4. Aid in supervising students effectively.

5. Notify the educator of any issues or significant information regarding students.

6. Serve as the primary resource for any substitute educator in the absence of the regular teacher.

7. Help in accurately reviewing student responses on assignments without assigning or recording grades.

8. Assist the educator with necessary clerical tasks.

9. Contribute to the preparation of instructional materials, including the creation of learning centers and manipulatives, copying/duplicating materials, and constructing display/bulletin boards.

10. Assist in the ordering and inventory management of classroom equipment and materials.

11. Participate in training workshops as mandated by the school system.

12. Maintain confidentiality regarding all school-related information concerning students, staff, and school operations.

13. Attend faculty meetings and other required gatherings.

14. Maintain paraprofessional licensure as required by the Professional Standards Commission.

15. Foster positive working relationships with colleagues.

16. Be physically capable of performing tasks involving light to heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling, and must be able to walk and/or stand for a minimum of six (6) hours with breaks.

17. Assist with classroom cleanliness and organization.

18. Participate in various school-wide duty assignments, including car rider, bus, or lunchroom duty.

19. Report to work consistently and punctually.

20. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal.
