Overview:
The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for enhancing individuals' communication and swallowing capabilities, thereby elevating their overall quality of life. This role requires adherence to the standards set forth by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the policies of Northern Light Health. The professional will integrate current research evidence with clinical expertise and the values of clients to make informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designs and implements tailored treatment programs aimed at maintaining or improving speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing functions.
- Conducts comprehensive evaluations to identify issues and establish therapy diagnoses prior to initiating treatment, including setting goals and planning for future assessments.
- Monitors treatment effectiveness and modifies interventions to maximize benefits, while also preparing suitable discharge plans.
- Ensures accurate and timely documentation of all clinical activities, including billing, within the electronic medical record system.
- Stays updated with the latest developments in the field through continuous education and professional development.
- Conducts diagnostic assessments and interventions within the scope of practice.
- Advises on modifications to patients' environments to better suit their needs and capabilities.
- Maintains a safe working environment in accordance with health policies and promptly addresses any safety concerns.
- Provides clinical oversight to support staff, students, and Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) Speech Language Pathologists.
- Participates in team meetings and collaborates effectively with colleagues, patients, and their families.
- Performs additional duties as required.
Additional Information:
- Required certifications: BLS, MOAB, Certificate of Clinical Compliance.
