This is a part-time, on-call position at the University of Minnesota's Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality educational programs to children, focusing on plant science and the natural world.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement engaging educational programs for children, including hands-on activities and field trips.
- Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and other adults to ensure a positive learning experience.
- Prepare and manage program supplies, including stocking items for future use.
- Maintain a safe and enjoyable learning environment for students.
- Delegate tasks and provide guidance to volunteers as needed.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for program improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in education, horticulture, natural sciences, or a related field.
- Experience teaching in a classroom or informal setting.
- Ability to teach with energy, clarity, and flexibility.
- Enthusiasm for working with children, using patience and a sense of humor.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to walk, bend, and lift 20 pounds, working indoors and outdoors.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a community outreach unit of the University of Minnesota's College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences. The Arboretum is a 1,200-acre public garden and natural area located in the western suburbs of Minneapolis/St. Paul.
