Position Overview

As a Systems Integration Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of intricate electro-hydraulic-mechanical systems that align with client project specifications and industry benchmarks. Your collaboration with multidisciplinary teams will be essential to ensure that assemblies are seamlessly integrated into comprehensive systems, functioning effectively while adhering to regulatory and safety protocols. Examples of your work will include fully integrated engines, generator sets, and aircraft systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engaging with cross-disciplinary teams to establish integration criteria and devise solutions that fulfill product objectives.
  • Overseeing the assembly packaging of subsystems and components, leading the team through tradeoff analyses and decision-making processes.
  • Facilitating packaging meetings and similar forums, ensuring a documented record of challenges and resolutions.
  • Conducting feasibility assessments, evaluating performance metrics, and crafting conceptual designs for mounting, thermal, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Designing and fabricating mounting structures, brackets, and adapters to guarantee the correct alignment, rigidity, and longevity of final assemblies.
  • Creating 3D models and detailed schematics of assembled systems utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) tools, particularly SolidWorks.
  • Maintaining and updating design documentation, including schematics, bills of materials, and engineering change orders.
  • Collaborating with fellow engineers to enhance system or equipment designs for optimal functional performance and efficiency, considering factors such as cost, weight, and size.
  • Designing and developing integrated systems that satisfy customer specifications and requirements.
  • Working with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of assemblies into complete systems.
  • Producing system schematics and drawings to facilitate proper installation and operation.
  • Identifying potential design challenges and formulating effective solutions.
  • Ensuring adherence to regulatory and safety standards throughout the design process.
  • Managing project integration timelines and providing updates to stakeholders.
  • Keeping technical documentation and reports current regarding design modifications and updates.

Candidate Profile:

  • A strong engineering background with specialized knowledge in assembly design and integration.
  • Capable of managing the integration of complex systems while optimizing size, weight, complexity, cost, and functionality.
  • An innovative thinker with an analytical mindset, adept at hands-on problem-solving.
  • A degree in engineering (MS or Ph.D. preferred) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Deep technical expertise in rotary equipment, thermofluid systems, combustion engines, and/or UAVs.
  • Proficient in design and simulation tools, with SolidWorks experience being advantageous.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creative and eager to tackle challenges, with a focus on developing the world’s most efficient and power-dense VTOL aircraft based on our rotary engine technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in complex system and assembly integration and packaging.
  • Knowledge of electro-hydraulic-mechanical design and simulation.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks, CAD, FEA, and simulation tools.
  • Hands-on experience in design, building, and testing.
  • Project management and presentation skills, including proficiency in MS Word, MS Project, MS PowerPoint, and Excel.
