We're seeking a skilled Camera Optical Architect to join our team at Kargo, a leading innovator in smart infrastructure for logistics. As a key member of our team, you'll play a crucial role in developing and deploying cutting-edge camera-based computer vision systems that revolutionize the freight industry.

About the Role

As a Camera Optical Architect, you'll be responsible for designing, building, and validating imaging optics at scale. Your expertise in lens and illumination system testing and validation will be essential in ensuring the quality and performance of our camera-based systems. You'll work closely with our Sales and Product teams to refine system optical requirements and collaborate with suppliers to manufacture optical components and subassemblies per specification.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop camera-based computer vision systems, including ideation, concept development, modeling, and testing.
  • Work with Sales and Product teams to refine system optical requirements and ensure alignment with customer needs.
  • Review and validate optical models, including lens and system-level simulations using software such as Zemax, LightTools, or FRED.
  • Design and implement lab test protocols and image quality metrics for lens, module, and camera shroud evaluation.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to manufacture optical components and subassemblies per specification.
Requirements
  • 1-3+ years of experience in designing, building, and validating imaging optics at scale.
  • Experience in lens and illumination system testing and validation.
  • Familiarity with optical simulation design using software such as Zemax, LightTools, FRED, or TracePro.
  • Experience with testing and troubleshooting for validating optics in prototype and production scenarios.
  • Degree in Optical Science/Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in lens selection, design, and tolerance analysis.
  • Experience in mass production of optical devices preferred.
  • Experience with CMOS Image sensors or related imaging area preferred.
