  • This role will involve advising client departments on issues pertinent to daily operations, including employment and procurement concerns, reviewing Virginia Freedom of Information Act requests, navigating the Virginia Conflict of Interest Act, ensuring compliance with relevant state and federal regulations, handling document and witness subpoenas, and assisting in the revision and updating of regulations and policies.
  • Additionally, the candidate may conduct legal research, draft legal documents and briefs, manage all phases of discovery, including motions practice, and represent FLAGS clients in litigation matters within Virginia's state and federal courts.

Essential Qualifications

  • Applicants should possess strong analytical skills along with exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, ensuring timely responses to legal inquiries.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Candidates must exhibit strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the capability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members is required, particularly in situations where covering for colleagues is necessary.
  • Prior litigation experience is preferred. Candidates must be admitted to the Virginia State Bar or eligible for immediate admission.
