Job Overview

Position Objective:

The primary role is to conduct swimming lessons for families as instructed by the Aquatics Manager and Aquatics Coordinator, ensuring a secure swimming environment for all participants and visitors. This position entails leading various pool activities while adhering to the guidance provided by the Aquatics management team. The individual is responsible for upholding a safe aquatic environment by enforcing the policies, regulations, and safety protocols of Family Wellness LLC for members, guests, and staff.

Key Responsibilities (Swimming Instruction):

  • Enhances swimming abilities in participants and communicates any concerns to their guardians. Builds rapport with students through regular attendance and clear expectations.
  • Ensures the safety of all class attendees.
  • Maintains discipline among students in a constructive manner, aligned with Family Wellness guidelines.
  • Implements lesson plans that are engaging and suitable for each skill level.
  • Maintains open communication with the Aquatics Manager, Aquatics Coordinator, and Aquatics Lead regarding all relevant programming.
  • Assesses and documents the progress of all students, providing progress reports at the conclusion of each lesson series.
  • Performs additional pool setup, takedown, and cleaning tasks as necessary.
  • Familiarizes with and adheres to the policies and procedures of the Aquatics Department and Family Wellness LLC.
  • Collaborates and shares information with fellow Family Wellness staff.

Key Responsibilities (Lifeguarding):

  • Maintains oversight of the pool area and enforces safety regulations in a firm yet supportive manner.
  • Ensures the safety of all individuals present in the pool vicinity.
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of the policies and procedures of the Aquatics Department and Family Wellness LLC.
  • Keeps the pool and surrounding area free from potential hazards and promptly reports any issues to the Aquatics Manager, Aquatics Coordinator, or maintenance staff.
  • Remains vigilant and prepared to prevent unsafe situations and assist individuals in need.
  • Completes additional pool setup, takedown, and cleaning duties as required.
  • Maintains consistent communication with the Aquatics Manager and Aquatics Coordinator.
  • Shares resources and information with other Family Wellness employees.
  • Ensures the pool is never left unattended unless it is completely empty, and secures all access points.
  • Records and monitors water and air quality metrics, reporting any irregularities.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by a supervisor.

Qualifications:

Education, Experience, & Skills (Minimum Requirements):

Applicants must be at least 15 years old. Previous experience in teaching is preferred but not mandatory. Current lifeguard certification is advantageous.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

Training in Family Wellness swim lesson instruction will be provided upon hiring, including classroom instruction and shadowing experienced instructors.

American Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid is required within three months of employment.
