Key Responsibilities
1. **Work Assignment**: Distribute tasks and coordinate team activities to enhance operational efficiency.
2. **Mechanical Oversight**: Assist in diagnosing mechanical issues and managing the repair or replacement of vehicle components.
3. **Cost Management**: Develop detailed cost assessments and provide recommendations for significant repairs.
4. **Facility Maintenance**: Supervise the upkeep of maintenance facilities and ensure all vehicles receive timely maintenance.
5. **Scheduling**: Collaborate with dispatchers to plan vehicle maintenance, maximizing service availability.
6. **Preventative Maintenance**: Oversee and monitor the preventative maintenance program.
7. **Team Leadership**: Evaluate and supervise the performance of maintenance staff, providing training in safety and operational procedures.
8. **Safety Compliance**: Enforce safety regulations and ensure compliance with hazardous material laws.
9. **Reporting**: Prepare daily reports and maintain databases related to fleet performance and maintenance activities.
10. **Contract Management**: Coordinate the execution of maintenance contracts.
Supervisory Duties
Lead a team of mechanics and support staff, fulfilling supervisory responsibilities in line with organizational policies. This includes hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
Qualifications
To excel in this position, candidates should possess:
- A high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for an AA/AS degree.
- A minimum of three years of experience with heavy-duty equipment or buses, including at least one year in a supervisory role.
Skills Required
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documents and regulations.
- Strong mathematical skills for analyzing data and performance metrics.
- Familiarity with fleet management software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to address practical problems and interpret various forms of instructions.
Physical and Work Environment
Candidates should be prepared for a work environment that includes exposure to mechanical components and potentially hazardous materials. The role may require lifting and moving items of varying weights.
