Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Substation Technician to join our team at the City of College Station. As a key member of our Electric Department, you will be responsible for the maintenance, operation, installation, and testing of electrical, mechanical, and electronic equipment in our electrical substations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with substation equipment, including transformers, circuit switches, and generators.
  • Inspect, test, repair, and calibrate substation equipment, including transformers, circuit switches, and generators.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including lubrication, cleaning, and inspection of equipment.
  • Ensure safe working practices by following established safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure optimal electric system operations.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of technical training with electrical transmission and/or distribution equipment.
  • Valid Texas Driver License.
  • Basic computer application skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates Degree in Electrical Power Distribution.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory and electrical/electronic schematics.
  • Knowledge of industry testing standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of emergency generators and UPS systems.
