Veterinary Care Professional

Position Overview: Parktown Veterinary Clinic is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to provide exceptional veterinary care and support to our patients and clients. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will work closely with our team of skilled professionals to deliver comprehensive medical care for pets, from routine wellness exams to advanced medical treatments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in determining animal requirements by conducting examinations, restraining patients, and reviewing care plans and records.
- Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering vaccines, and providing wound care management.
- Assemble required supplies and instruments for procedures, including filling prescriptions and administering medications.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment by following documented standards and procedures.
- Document patients' conditions, reactions, and changes, and update medical records in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate and follow procedures in catheter placement and phlebotomy.
Qualifications and Skills:
- At least 1 year of experience in veterinary care or a related field.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in surgery is a plus.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs and calculations.
- Able to perform moderately physically demanding work, including lifting and constant motion.
Available Schedule: Full-time position, 8 hours a day, 4 days a week, with rotating Saturdays.
