Overview:

The Controller will play a crucial role in the Fiscal Affairs team, working closely with the Chief Financial Officer to achieve various institutional goals and objectives. This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to provide exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Accounting and Reporting: The Controller will oversee the institution's financial accounting and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Budget Management: This role involves developing and managing the institution's annual budget, working closely with various departments to align financial planning with the institution's goals.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance: The Controller will establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard the institution's assets and ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies.
  • Audit Coordination: This position requires coordinating internal and external audits, preparing audit reports, and implementing recommendations to improve financial practices.
  • Policy Development: The Controller will formulate and enforce financial policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across the institution.
  • Team Leadership: This role involves leading and managing the finance team, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff to ensure effective financial operations.
  • Strategic Financial Planning: The Controller will collaborate with senior leadership to address strategic financial issues and support the institution's long-term financial health.
  • Treasury Operations: This position requires managing treasury functions, including cash flow, investments, and debt management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited College/University in a relevant field such as business, finance, or accounting, and 7 years of experience; or a combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
  • Experience working in Higher Education
  • Experience with Financial Software such as Populi and Financial Edge NXT
