Nuclear Medicine Specialist

Ochsner Health is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for assessing patients and safely performing routine nuclear medicine procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols.
This role requires strong communication skills, as you will be working closely with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and efficient care. You will also be responsible for leading departmental programs, protocol development, system standardization, competency validation, safety programs, accreditation, and quality/efficiency initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify physician orders and procedures to ensure accuracy
- Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate care
- Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
- Operate equipment to complete imaging procedures according to protocol
- Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality standards
- Complete timely quality control procedures and perform notification/remediation as warranted
- Lead departmental programs and initiatives
- Assist in the orientation and training of junior staff
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Registered in Nuclear Medicine by the ARRT or equivalent body as recognized by the ACR or Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
- Current license in the state of practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
- Healthcare experience
Physical and Environmental Demands
The physical essential functions of this job include (but are not limited to) the following: Frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects; occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force.
