Riverside Health System is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our team. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with physicians to provide specialized care to surgical patients, building trusting relationships to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Anticipate and prepare for equipment and supply needs, ensuring timely and cost-effective arrangements.
  • Monitor and support personal and departmental needs, including flexing and shift changes to meet departmental requirements.
  • Maintain aseptic environments during surgical procedures, adhering to AORN Standards and recording breaks in technique.
  • Ensure safe practices, following RHS policies and procedures, as well as guidelines from AORN, CMS, and DNV.
  • Update and maintain preference cards, communicating changes to team members.
  • Build collaborative relationships with multidisciplinary teams to support patient care needs.
  • Participate in supply utilization, new equipment/product evaluations, and identify solutions for cost containment and waste reduction.
  • Support and assist perioperative registered nurses and teams in patient care, demonstrating responsibility for accurate handling and management of specimens and surgical counts.
Requirements
  • Program Graduate, Surgical Technology (Preferred)
  • 1 year Experience in surgical tech (Preferred)
  • Surgical Technologist - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Licensed as Surgical Technologist with State of Virginia Upon Hire (Required)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 90 Days (Required)
  • Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) Upon Hire (Required) or Tech in Surgery - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) Upon Hire (Required)
