The Senior Security Officer is responsible for executing advanced security operations.
As the most experienced member of the security team, this role supports the Security Supervisor in achieving departmental objectives.
Duties include monitoring premises, conducting preliminary investigations as necessary, and offering guidance and assistance to patients, staff, and visitors.Additional responsibilities encompass temporary switchboard operations, such as managing hospital telephone inquiries, the fire alarm system, and emergency response communications.
Operates with minimal supervision, exercising significant initiative and independent judgment.Additional Responsibilities:
Other responsibilities may include actively participating in or supporting the agency's disaster response and recovery efforts or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation, which may necessitate alternate shift assignments or locations.
Key Responsibilities:
Regular attendance is essential, and you may be required to adhere to a specific shift schedule or, at times, a rotating schedule, extended shifts, and/or overtime as per agency leave policies.
Patrol the hospital grounds to identify and address unusual occurrences such as trespassing, vandalism, and emergencies.
Supervise and guide the daily activities and performance of junior security personnel as needed.
Adjust the daily tasks of security officers on shift to ensure departmental goals are met according to the directives of the security supervisor based on available tasks and personnel.
Ensure the safety of the hospital campus. Open hospital gates as necessary and provide assistance to visitors. Conduct patrols to inspect and secure buildings, properties, and equipment. Document incidents or events occurring in and around the hospital grounds.
Manage video requests from the Rights Protection department.
Perform temporary switchboard duties as required.
Respond to phone calls and dispatch requests as needed, including the fire alarm system and emergency response communications.
Monitor points of entry and exit to prevent unauthorized departures or escapes. Investigate and document unusual incidents such as thefts, fires, vehicle accidents, unauthorized exits, and weather-related events.
In the absence of the Security Supervisor, undertake administrative tasks such as preparing departmental schedules and reviewing reports.
Represent the security department in meetings and events as directed by the Security Supervisor or Directors.Respond to fire alarms, assess the nature of emergencies, and reset alarms as necessary.
During actual fire emergencies, assist the fire department in accessing the premises to mitigate impacts on the hospital, staff, and patients.
Provide crisis intervention when necessary, assisting staff in managing disruptive or combative patients or guests, and escorting disruptive individuals off hospital grounds.
Operate state vehicles to transport patients, employees, and visitors on or off the hospital premises.
Maintain inspection records to ensure the safe operation and preventive maintenance of vehicles.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Other assigned duties may include actively participating in or supporting the agency's disaster response and recovery efforts or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation, which may require alternate shift assignments or locations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with alarm systems.
Understanding of traffic and parking regulations.
Knowledge of emergency response protocols.
Proficient interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and the public.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to compose clear security incident reports.
Capability to patrol grounds, identify incidents, and take appropriate action to minimize impact on the campus.
Ability to respond swiftly and calmly in emergencies.
Physical capacity to walk or stand for extended periods.
Ability to drive out-of-town.
Competence in operating a wheelchair van.
