Job Summary

Choctaw Global is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate to join our team. As a key member of our Family Advocacy Support Services (FASS) team, you will provide critical support and resources to victims of domestic abuse, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide initial victim advocacy services, including referrals and emotional support, to victims of domestic abuse.
  • Develop and implement safety plans, case management, and crisis intervention strategies to meet the unique needs of each victim.
  • Conduct briefings and educational sessions for large and small groups of military personnel, civilians, and commanders on domestic abuse prevention and response.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to established guidelines and protocols for victim services.
  • Participate in public awareness campaigns and events to promote domestic abuse prevention and support services.
  • Develop and disseminate resource materials and educational tools to support victims and promote awareness.

Requirements

  • Current/Active Secret level Clearance required prior to hire.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, marriage, family, and child counseling, counseling, or behavioral science, education, community health, or public health.
  • Certified by the National Advocate Credentialing Program within a year of hire.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in working with a military or civilian social service agency serving military families.
  • Thorough knowledge of family violence dynamics, trauma-informed advocacy services, environmental stressors, safety planning, risk assessments, local community resources, and federal and state laws pertaining to domestic abuse, family law, and the Victim Rights Bill.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with victims, develop trusting helping relationships, and work effectively with individuals and families from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to independently assess risk, develop, implement, and evaluate safety and intervention plans to meet victim needs.
  • Possess effective public speaking skills and ability to communicate effectively while conducting briefings to small and large groups of civilians, soldiers, and commanders.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with military and civilian medical, social service, law enforcement, and legal personnel on behalf of victims.
  • Ability to educate personnel on the installation regarding the most effective responses and resources for domestic abuse on behalf of victims.
  • Maintain a valid, unrestricted motor vehicle license and have transportation.
  • Be physically and mentally able to perform all contractual duties, which may include transporting, lifting, and setting up displays, and standing and walking during activities that involve domestic abuse prevention and response.

Working Conditions

  • Core work hours are between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, Monday through Friday, except federal holidays or when the government facility is closed due to local or national emergencies, administrative closings, or similar government-directed facility closings.
  • May be required to work in the evenings and on weekends to respond to requests for information by the COR or the DAVAs.
