Position Summary:

The Patient Care Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the care team and patients. Responsibilities include:

  • Welcoming and checking in patients, ensuring a smooth experience.
  • Scheduling appointments and managing inquiries via phone.
  • Collecting payments and maintaining accurate demographic records.
  • Utilizing the practice management system (PM) and electronic health record (EHR) in accordance with established protocols.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM. Flexibility to assist at local practices may be required.


Key Responsibilities:

The Patient Care Coordinator will:

  • Greet patients and facilitate the check-in process, including verifying demographic and insurance information.
  • Manage eligibility verification and flag appointments as necessary.
  • Collect co-payments and outstanding balances, posting payments in the practice management system.
  • Utilize the EHR for effective communication with clinicians and manage daily reminder logs.
  • Conduct outreach to patients who miss appointments, especially for chronic conditions or preventive care.
  • Ensure all necessary documents are scanned and indexed in the EHR prior to patient visits.
  • Assist colleagues to maintain efficient office operations and deliver exceptional service.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a receptionist role.

Preferred:

  • Experience with EPIC software.
  • Prior experience as a receptionist in a healthcare environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records.

Compensation:

The hourly wage for this position varies based on factors such as local labor markets, education, and experience. UnitedHealth Group adheres to all applicable minimum wage laws.
