The Team

You'll join a collaborative team of innovative thinkers who love to experiment, collaborate, and win together. We're passionate about pushing the boundaries of automation, biology, computing, robotics, design, and user experience to benefit our customers and the world.

We're growing naturally and looking to add a skilled Software Engineer with strong frontend skills to support our commercial launch. This is a unique engineering environment that combines software, firmware, robotics, biology, and chemistry into one product, with cross-functional collaboration between all groups.

Day-to-Day and Year 1
  • Our team splits their time between meetings (about 30%) and hands-on work (about 70%), including designing, coding, testing, debugging, and code reviews.
  • Developing software anywhere in the device stack and beyond using languages like C, C++, Rust, Python, React, and JavaScript.
  • Authoring Python code to run on the instrument and control its functionality.
  • Developing manufacturing test functionality.
  • Documenting software design, implementation, and testing procedures to ensure clarity, maintenance, and scalability.
  • Partnering with hardware engineers, scientists, and product managers to ensure Callisto's software is robust and effective.
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining features for customer-facing products and internal tools.
  • Debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving complex software errors, taking ownership of the resolution process.
  • Deploying software updates to fleets of instruments and monitoring them for a stable platform.
  • Participating in code reviews, following company coding standards, and writing unit tests.
  • Contribution to overall team success by proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement and innovation.
  • Facilitating hardware bring-up and failure analysis, getting hands-on with unrefined hardware.
Within 3 Months

You'll complete onboarding, become familiar with our code base, and understand our product and opportunity. You'll work independently but collaboratively within a supportive environment.

By 6 Months

You'll have shipped your first code set for new controls, be developing opinions and insights to share with the senior team, and actively learn and share knowledge with your team.

At 12+ Months

You'll support hiring, grow your technical acumen, move cross-functionally through the organization, and own software projects from design to deployment.
