Network Installation Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Network Installation Specialist to join our team at Mediacom Communications. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining our broadband infrastructure, ensuring that our customers receive the best possible service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform strand mapping for new build areas to ensure efficient and effective installation of our broadband infrastructure.
  • Conduct walk-outs of apartment complexes and MDUs to identify and address any installation issues.
  • Direct contractors and in-house teams on work to be performed, ensuring that all installations meet our high standards.
  • Read system prints and understand the operation of our CATV system to ensure seamless installation and maintenance.
  • Perform field engineering of road projects and force relocates to ensure that our broadband infrastructure is installed and maintained to the highest standards.
  • Participate in meetings with developers and state projects to ensure that our broadband infrastructure meets their needs.
  • Produce reports as required on the operation of our plant facility to ensure that our customers receive the best possible service.
  • Work in various weather conditions within safety constraints to ensure that our broadband infrastructure is installed and maintained safely and efficiently.
  • Provide input to supervisor on projects to ensure that our broadband infrastructure is installed and maintained to the highest standards.
  • Perform quality control inspections and construction on a regular basis to ensure that our broadband infrastructure meets our high standards.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously to ensure that our broadband infrastructure is installed and maintained efficiently and effectively.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required; associates degree preferred.
  • Valid driver's license; satisfactory driving record required.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Broadband Specialist IV system technician or 4+ years' equivalent cable technician experience.
  • SCTE - Understanding Cable Technology certification required.
  • SCTE - Coax Splicer Specialist certification required.
  • Knowledge of HFC plant, installs, and service calls.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with customers and co-workers.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work flexible work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Knowledge of all construction tools and equipment, including bucket trucks, lasher, blocks, pulling grips, stand/cable trailers, cable layers, hoists, bolt cutters, lay-up sticks, and hand lines.
