Position Overview:
As a dedicated Foster Care Worker, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety and well-being of children in foster care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to Agency Policies and Procedures consistently.
- Implement practices in alignment with the Foster Care Department's guidelines.
- Strive to meet and exceed established competencies.
- Achieve departmental objectives and outcomes effectively.
- Provide essential support and oversight to Foster Parents, ensuring the safety, well-being, and permanency of children.
- Engage in recruitment initiatives to expand the network of foster homes, addressing community needs.
- Evaluate the needs of Foster Parents, equipping them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to navigate the expectations outlined in the Foster Parent Handbook.
- Foster partnerships with churches, community organizations, and faith-based groups to enhance foster home recruitment efforts.
- Demonstrate a commitment to acquiring the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to excel in this role.
Job Duties Breakdown:
50% - Supervise assigned Foster Parents, ensuring service provision that promotes safety, well-being, and permanency.
40% - Recruit, train, and license foster homes through collaboration with community and church partners.
10% - Participate in supervision and staff meetings to enhance team collaboration.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:
1. A Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field.
2. Preferred licensure with the Kansas Behavioral Science Regulatory Board.
3. A minimum of 2 years of experience in child welfare is preferred.
4. The ability to travel using an agency or personal vehicle, including night travel, and the capacity to lift up to 50 lbs.
5. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
The role may involve exposure to various environmental conditions, with frequent indoor conditions and occasional outdoor exposure.
