Job Summary

The Pharmacist will compound and dispense prescribed medications in a healthcare facility environment, transfer prescriptions, provide drug information to healthcare professionals, and perform medication order entry into the computer. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and have a strong understanding of pharmacy practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Record Management
    • Accurately maintain patient medication profiles in the Cerner system.
    • Develop proficiency in pharmacy information systems, including troubleshooting and clarifying orders.
    • Notify clinical pharmacists of orders placed in the clinical queue.
  • Consultation
    • Provide appropriate patient care after assessment and interpretation of patient data.
    • Respond to requests for drug information in a timely and concise manner.
  • Compounding & Dispensing Medication
    • Fill medications correctly during the filling process.
    • Supervise staff at all times in accordance with established guidelines.
    • Accurately weigh, measure, and compound medications using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Ensures Quality and Cost Effectiveness
    • Fill medications correctly and accurately label them for patients.
    • Make approved Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee substitutions when applicable.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
    • Participate in projects as needed.
    • Complete other assigned projects.

Qualifications

  • Up to 1 year of experience.
  • Current license with the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy; RPH.
