Job Summary

The Pharmacist will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications in a healthcare facility environment. This individual will be responsible for compounding and dispensing prescribed drugs, transferring prescriptions, and providing drug information to healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Medication Management
    • Accurately maintain patient medication profiles in the Cerner system
    • Develop proficiency in pharmacy information systems, including troubleshooting and clarifying orders
    • Notify clinical pharmacists of orders placed in the clinical queue
  • Consultation and Education
    • Provide appropriate adult, geriatric, pediatric, and neonatal patient care after assessment and interpretation of patient data
    • Offer concise, applicable, comprehensive, and timely responses to requests for drug information
  • Compounding and Dispensing
    • Fill medications correctly during the filling process, with supervision provided at all times
    • Accurately weigh, measure, and compound medications using appropriate tools and equipment
    • Dispense scheduled medications correctly and return them to the Narcotic Vault 100% of the time
  • Quality and Cost Effectiveness
    • Fill medications correctly and accurately label them for timely availability to patients
    • Make approved Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee substitutions when applicable at the point of order entry
  • Other Duties
    • Participate in projects as needed
    • Complete other assigned projects

Requirements

  • Up to 1 year of experience
  • Current license with the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy; RPH
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
