We are seeking a Senior Unix/Linux Systems Engineer with a strong background in OpenShift to enhance our technical team.
While OpenShift experience is highly valued, candidates with Red Hat Linux and Kubernetes backgrounds will also be considered. A CISSP or Security Plus certification is mandatory.
Clearance Requirement: Active Secret Clearance is essential.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize Remedy to address customer-reported server and desktop support challenges.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to network infrastructure and tools.
- Conduct analysis and assessments of server performance and storage capacity, planning for future requirements.
- Perform routine operating system patching, upgrades, and security management, primarily during off-hours to minimize customer impact.
- Manage user accounts effectively.
- Maintain comprehensive system documentation.
- Install server systems and associated hardware successfully.
- Interface with hardware service controllers for lights-out management configuration.
- Install and configure operating systems, software applications, and programs efficiently.
- Proven experience in UNIX and Linux Systems Server Administration (e.g., Solaris 10/11, RHEL 5/6, VMWare), including virtualized environments.
- Familiarity with server networking, including configuration of various protocols, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring.
- Understanding of operating system services management.
- Knowledge of server security patching methodologies and management tools.
- Experience with server virus protection solutions.
- Current Security + and/or CISSP certification.
- Experience with Microsoft WSUS and SCCM technologies.
- Ability to configure EMC storage within AIX, Solaris 10/11, RHEL 5/6, and SUSE Linux.
- Demonstrated proficiency in daily server operations, including account administration and infrastructure security management.
- Relevant certifications in Microsoft, Cisco, UNIX, or Linux.
- Network administration capabilities.
- Experience in Unix server and desktop support.
- Familiarity with Veritas Netbackup and shell scripting.
- Proven skills in creating documentation and reports using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent organizational abilities.
- Experience in delivering documented procedures based on industry standards and best practices.
- Active DoD Secret clearance or higher.
- Extensive experience as a systems administrator.
- Experience managing integration issues with new OS rollouts, upgrades, and compliance.
- OS experience with RHWL7 through 9, Solaris 11 with zoning, and AIX with LPAR.
- Proficiency with various LVMs and scripting is essential.
