Job Summary

This role is for a highly skilled IT Systems Engineer who will perform in a functional capacity over classified engineering networks and special test equipment in labs. The successful candidate will lead technical execution efforts and/or teams, ensuring the integrity and availability of applications, and coordinating new application installations, upgrades, and customer support in classified areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • System administration of heterogeneous networks, including Windows 10/11, Windows Server based domains, and Linux distributions.
  • Manage operating system cyber compliance, upgrades, and patching (Windows/Linux).
  • Perform guidance and management for hardware, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance on multiple architectures.
  • Ensure the integrity and availability of applications, and coordinate new application installations, upgrades, and customer support in classified areas.
  • Responsible for implementing effective backup/recovery, resource accounting, and auditing procedures.
  • Perform troubleshooting and maintenance on varied IT hardware (PCs, printers, laptops, etc.).
  • Gather system security design requirements with stakeholders and develop architecture.
  • Implement security designs in hardware, software, data, and procedures.
Requirements
  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • US Citizenship required at this facility.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds.
  • Must possess a CompTIA Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570 qualified certificate.
  • Experience with Linux or Unix operating systems.
  • Experience with Windows operating systems.
  • Install operating system security patches and firmware updates.
  • Create/manage security groups.
  • Coordinate hardware repair activities.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware/software problems/issues.
  • Create scripts to automate system administration tasks.
  • Create/edit Standard Operating Instructions (SOI) documentation.
Desired Skills
  • Expertise with RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
  • Expertise with Windows Server OS.
  • Expertise administering virtual machines with VMWare ESXi.
  • Perform successful root cause analysis for problem resolution in Unix and Linux environments.
  • Performing routine server/workstation patching per guidelines.
  • Advanced proficiency in scripting (shell/Ansible/Powershell).
  • Successfully install server and associated hardware.
  • Successfully install/configure software applications and programs.
  • Provide support to operations groups requiring off-shift and possible travel.
  • Provide IT support in a multi-functional environment that includes software support, network and server administration.
  • Managing servers in a disconnected environment.
  • Experience with vulnerability remediation and security management (system hardening, log management, configuration management [i.e., Nessus, Trellix, Splunk, SCAP]).
  • Possess valid 8140 certifications or be able to obtain certifications within 90 days of hire date.
